About Peace Christian Preschool

About Us

Picture
The mission of Peace Christian Preschool is to present the message of Christ and apply it to all areas of learning through both the direct instruction about Christ and/or the modeling of Christian values.

We believe this can be fostered by creating an atmosphere of Christian gentleness and sensitivity in which the uniqueness of each child can be developed and appreciated.  With this as our foundation for education, we feel each student will grow in self-worth and love, thus enabling him/her to courageously accept the challenges and responsibilities that are to come.

Who We Are

Peace Christian Preschool is an outreach ministry supported by Peace Lutheran Church.  We are governed by a board of directors that is made up of former and present preschool parents, church members, and other volunteers. Our staff are highly qualified, possessing either a DPI license or a listing in The Registry. We are regulated through the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.

OASD Ready 4 Learning & Early Childhood Program

The OASD early childhood program is a cooperative effort between the Oshkosh Area School District and Peace Preschool which seeks to provide enhanced early learning opportunities for young children beginning at age four. Our Ready 4 Learning program provides high-quality, free public preschool for all children who turn four on or before September 1 of the current school year. Through the Early Childhood program, children with special educational needs, beginning at age 3, are given the opportunity to integrate with other children the same age at Peace. Special education students are able to learn language and social skills from their regular education peers, and regular education students get to practice compassion and problem-solving. Most importantly, all the children have a chance to make more friends and feel like an important part of the Peace Preschool school family.

Our Purpose & Philosophy

Picture
Peace Christian Preschool offers children a Christian setting in which to grow, learn, and develop physically, spiritually, intellectually, socially and emotionally.  Our objectives are:
  • To encourage the development of the whole child and enable children to feel secure in the love of God; to enhance the development of the child's self esteem and self-image
  • To provide opportunities for social interaction, encouraging self-confidence, concern for others, cooperation in work and play, and a spirit of sharing
  • To teach simple Christian truths related to the child's experiences and level of development
  • To create opportunities in which the child may develop creative expression through many forms of art.
  • To enhance and strengthen a child's physical development through both large and small muscle exercises
  • To increase the child's skills in listening, self discipline, conversation, creative self expression, and independent work and play.
  • To enhance and strengthen a child's physical development through both large and small muscle exercises
  • To use positive guidance and redirection which promotes independence, self-respect, and self-esteem by allowing children to learn from their experiences. Choices are given, rules and limits for safety and well-being are established, allowing children to understand consequences of their actions and develop a sense of goodness and responsibility.
  • To help parents learn skills that will promote the growth and development of their preschool child
  • To recognize and respect physical and emotional differences as well as cultural diversity in humans
